In a significant move for European defense, Denmark’s Terma Group, a leader in advanced aerospace and security technology, has entered a strategic partnership with Ukraine’s Odd Systems. The collaboration is set to co-develop a new generation of low-cost, autonomous drone interceptors powered by artificial intelligence.
The alliance will merge Terma’s high-end sensor systems and deep expertise in situational awareness with Odd Systems’ battle-hardened drone platforms and thermal imaging technology. This fusion aims to create a robust solution for countering the evolving threat of unmanned aerial systems.
Filip Rensch-Jacobsen, Vice President at Terma, highlighted the strategic rationale behind the partnership. “Odd Systems represents the pinnacle of rapid, combat-tested innovation. Their ability to deliver effective drone capabilities under extreme pressure and at an unmatched cost-point is extraordinary. By integrating our best-in-class defense technologies with their agile platforms, we can accelerate the future of air combat capabilities. This is the most effective path forward,” he stated.
For Odd Systems, the partnership provides access to world-class engineering and a broader European security framework. Yaroslav Azhnyuk, co-founder of the company, expressed enthusiasm for the joint effort. “We are thrilled to work with the dedicated professionals at Terma. Developing a powerful autonomous interceptor is a critical mission, and such Ukraine-EU cooperation is fundamental for a more secure Europe,” Azhnyuk said.
The joint project reflects a modern approach to defense, where drones are treated as modular platforms akin to fighter aircraft. Terma brings decades of experience from programs like the F-16 and F-35, applying that same systems-integration philosophy to the urgent demands of contemporary drone warfare. The planned interceptor is designed to autonomously identify, track, and neutralize a wide spectrum of aerial threats, from small FPV and commercial drones to larger fixed-wing and long-range models like the Shahed.
This partnership not only addresses an immediate battlefield need but also strengthens European technological resilience and marks a step toward a more integrated and agile continental defense architecture.
